Chapter 44: Consider Yourself Warned
Annoyed, Shang Ying landed another kick on his waist, causing him to shut his mouth in agonizing pain. Who knew how much alcohol he had drunk. His bloated belly looked as if a pig's head had been stuffed inside.
She said impatiently, "Speak, who wants me expelled?"
Using "puppy love" as an excuse to expel a student might fool those obedient kids who didn't dare resist the school, but using it on her, Shang Ying, meant they were asking for a beating. If there wasn't something shady going on behind the scenes, she wouldn't believe it for a second.
Because she wasn't in a relationship at all, and her interactions with her biological brother Shang Yi at school were completely normal. Even if someone suspected them of puppy love, a teacher should have caught them first to clarify the situation. They should only be expelled if they actually did something egregious.
Yet they didn't do any of that. Therefore, someone high up with significant power must have instructed this. She wanted to see who dared to target her.
The grade dean was in severe pain, his voice leaking air as he spoke.
"I... I don't know... The principal... The principal told me to do this..."
Hearing the key phrase, Shang Ying let out a cold snort, released her leg, and walked over to Tian Wei while carrying the baseball bat. Tian Wei was already terrified out of her wits. Seeing Shang Ying approach her, she immediately squatted down holding her head, shaking non-stop.
"Don't hit me! Don't hit me! I know nothing, absolutely nothing!"
Shang Ying rolled her eyes, yanked the person up, and looked at Tian Wei's tear-stained face. A flash of irritation crossed her eyes, and the next second, she delivered two crisp slaps squarely across her face.
The watching teachers drew in a collective cold breath. That force and sound felt as if slaps were landing on their own faces through the air, hurting just to listen to.
"Keep your mouth clean. Do you even know how to write the words 'a role model for students'? You actually have the audacity to call yourself a teacher."
‘Well said!’
If the atmosphere hadn't been so tense, the other teachers would have loved to applaud. They had long been dissatisfied with Tian Wei's overbearing way of managing students. Those who didn't know better would think she was training slaves.
A few well-meaning teachers had previously tried to remind her out of kindness, only for Tian Wei to show zero gratitude, even turning around to accuse them of interfering with her teaching, so they stopped speaking up and simply ignored her.
Shang Ying threw the dazed Tian Wei onto the sofa, ignored her, and turned her head to look at the trembling Xia Zhi.
Xia Zhi kept her head lowered, her fingers clutching her clothes tightly. She felt Shang Ying was completely insane, actually daring to raise a hand against a teacher, an absolute lunatic!
Yet, drawing courage from who-knows-where, she raised her head, her eyes completely filled with undisguised hatred.
"Aren't you just being so unbridled because your family has a bit of money? You hit a teacher, so you're truly finished this time! I really don't know why Shang Yi would be together with a piece of trash like you..."
Xia Zhi used every bit of strength to raise her voice, yet the end of her sentence remained faint and weak, like a clumsy insect flapping its wings to provoke a hornet. She even began to hate her own cowardice.
Her eyes turned red and burning, yet she stubbornly refused to blink, staring fixedly at Shang Yi.
"Why do you like her? You should be with someone outstanding! Where is Shang Ying even good?!"
Shang Yi's cold, indifferent gaze swept past Xia Zhi's hideous expression, ignoring her anger. Silence spoke louder than words. Xia Zhi's heart trembled, and tears fell without warning.
She used to love Shang Yi's cold attitude toward everyone the most. But when he looked at her with eyes that said 'I don't care about your thoughts at all,' her heart truly ached. She was clearly doing this for his own good!
"I won't hit you. Consider yourself warned."
"Why won't you hit me?! Do you look down on me?! In truth, you've always looked down on me in your heart! But who else besides me is willing to deal with a plaything like you who has a weird, violent temper?!"
Xia Zhi's emotions broke down completely as she burst into uncontrollable sobs. Why was she always the one being ignored? Shang Ying, this piece of trash, getting slapped across the face would at least prove she had a sense of presence!
Shang Ying ignored her, shooting a glance at Shang Yi. With a click, the door lock opened, and the two walked out of the office one after the other. The two prominent figures of the school being called into the grade office at the same time had already led people to suspect they were caught for puppy love.
The school forum was updating comments at lightning speed.
[If You Don't Like Me, Go Die]: Ahhhhh, is this real?! Then isn't my CP broken?! No, no, go catch those playing on their phones, don't catch my little lovers!
[I Want to Be the Bureau Chief]: The school needs to stop stripping away students' last bit of joy!
[Red-Bean Porridge Dream Man]: It's normal that they got caught. The school manages things so strictly, and those two have been walking together every day recently. It'd be weird if they weren't caught.
[IRian]: Will they be advised to drop out? Shang Yi is top of the grade so he definitely won't leave. The one leaving will be Shang Ying. Tsk tsk, puppy love is unacceptable, kids!
[Eat Today's Meal]: Latest news: Shang Ying is being expelled!! 100% real!
[School Vagrant]: Holy crap, so severe?! Usually caught couples only get a disciplinary mark. As expected, you can't touch the grade rank #1. One touch and you're expelled.
Lu Yan sat in the classroom, constantly refreshing the newly posted comments. The more she read, the happier she became, a victor's smile spreading across her face.
What was the use of having good looks and being with Shang Yi? With just a word from her, Shang Ying was being driven out of the school. Daring to touch what belonged to her was truly overestimating one's abilities.
Still, it didn't matter. Once this woman was gone, Shang Yi would be alone again. When the time came, she would use both threats and inducements to force Shang Yi to be with her, ensuring no other bitch would dare approach him again.
Shang Ying walked over holding the baseball bat, politely knocking on the door twice, and waited for the person inside to respond before opening the door and stepping inside.
The principal had an independent office, quite large and grandly decorated. Inside a mahogany glass cabinet sat many city-level awards won by the school. The man who smiled the most composed in the center of the photo was currently sitting right in the middle of the office.
The principal leaned slightly forward from his chair, looking somewhat troubled, yet he still advised in a gentle manner.
"Student Shang, I suggest you don't make a scene. This matter has gotten quite serious, and you wouldn't want to end up at the police station, would you?"
Before she arrived, he had already received news about what had transpired in the past half hour. A faint trace of disdain flickered across his usually gentle face.
‘They couldn't even control a student without a background. What a useless bunch.’
Shang Ying raised an eyebrow. Look at how the principal used both carrot and stick, attempting to crush her using the police station. Not wanting to waste her breath, she cut straight to the point.
"Hello, Principal. I just want to know who exactly wanted me expelled. Tell me, and I'll leave right away."
‘She'd go deal with that death-seeking person right now.’
The principal pressed his lower lip in difficulty, letting out a helpless sigh.
"Student Shang, you violated rules through puppy love yourself. How can you make wild accusations?"
"How about this: you're young, so it's understandable to act impulsively when facing expulsion. Go apologize to the teachers in a moment, and this matter will blow over. You should go find another school properly.”
