Chapter 10: Next Game For You
"What's wrong?"
Xie Tuo finished his phone call, put his phone back into his pocket, and walked over to the two men upon seeing Cui Heyuan's struck-by-lightning expression.
"Tuo, you might not believe it if I say this out loud, but a minor actually snuck into a casino and started gambling. How many years do you think this place's owner is going to get in prison?"
Cui Heyuan looked like he was losing his mind.
Xie Tuo glanced down at the gambling table and chuckled.
"I don't know, but either way, I'm not the owner."
"Are you even speaking human language right now?" Cui Heyuan glared at him in dissatisfaction. "Did you find any info on that kid? The bouncers let her in, so she definitely had an invitation."
But how on earth did an invitation end up in a kid's hands?
Xie Tuo took a sip of his drink and shook his head.
"Not yet, but soon."
Wei Yanyi had been staring intently at the roulette table, scrutinizing every detail.
"I'm telling you guys, this kid is anything but simple. She put all her chips on Black 33."
"What? A straight up bet?! Talk about insane courage!"
This move shocked even Xie Tuo. He looked out the window. The girl's hat covered most of her face, her long hair casually tied up behind her head as she stared at the roulette wheel without moving an inch.
Her posture was far from tense, her small movements light and relaxed. She was even holding a bottle of Coke and sipping from a straw, looking as if she were just playing around casually.
Besides the three of them, there were other friends in the private room, mostly gathered around tables playing games. Seeing the trio glued to the window, they called out to invite them over, but Wei Yanyi declined, so they didn't push further.
After all, the three of them were the ones who held true authority in this room.
The roulette wheel spun slower and slower. The gamblers who had placed their bets held their breath, no longer making a sound, as their eyes locked tightly onto the numbers and the small ball on the wheel.
Shang Ying was a notable exception. Her expression remained relaxed, showing zero trace of anxiety. She even pulled out her phone to scroll through short videos, unable to resist letting out a soft laugh when she read an amusing comment.
The older guy standing next to her was now fully convinced that Shang Ying had come here just to play around with her family elders. Her effortless, composure-filled demeanor, combined with the modest amount of chips on the table, basically nailed his theory to the wall.
When the timing was right, the dealer lady called out for bets to stop, making a horizontal sweep with her arm across the table. Those who were still preparing to place bets felt a bit disappointed after being called to stop.
The ball began to decelerate. Shang Ying tucked her phone away and looked toward the wheel. As the speed slowed further, the surrounding breathing grew increasingly rapid and heavy, yet the dealer lady's expression remained flawlessly beautiful.
Shang Ying met her gaze, her eyes curving into a smile. The dealer lady seemed to realize she was smiling at her, making her formulaic smile appear a bit more genuine, as if wishing her good luck.
Finally, the small ball came to a stop in the slot for Black 33. Intense gasps and exclamations erupted from the crowd as everyone stared at the young girl. The shockwave of excitement was so massive it even reached the second floor.
Cui Heyuan swore several times in succession, getting so excited he almost jumped up, if not for Xie Tuo pressing him back down in time.
"Holy shit, that's insane! Is this good luck? This is off-the-charts luck!"
Wei Yanyi was equally stunned. He had thought the kid was just bold, but who knew her luck was this absurd? The God of Wealth must have possessed her directly.
"Is this the newbie buff? Damn it, if I knew my first time playing would look this cool, I would've been bragging about it for the rest of my life!"
It was genuinely enviable luck. Countless gamblers yearned for a moment like this, but such moments were always a matter of pure chance, impossible to seek out.
Xie Tuo, however, harbored a different thought. He had noticed the girl downstairs placed her bet after the ball was launched into the wheel. If she were truly a first-timer or just playing around casually, she would have placed her bet before that.
Yet she deliberately waited for the ball to spin two rounds before placing all her chips onto the felt without the slightest hesitation. To claim she had zero experience was something Xie Tuo simply didn't buy.
A knock came at the door of the private room, and someone nearby opened it. The manager immediately walked over to Xie Tuo's trio, handed them the gathered information, and promptly left.
The information on the paper was extremely simple and clean, so flawless at first glance that nothing seemed amiss. But anyone who looked closer would realize it was a boiler-plate template that hadn't even been bothered to be properly filled out.
In other words, everything on that sheet was fake.
Oh, except for the gender. That part was real.
The beautiful dealer lady couldn't help taking a couple extra glances at the young girl who had most of her face hidden.
In a place like a casino, where all kinds of characters mingled, spending enough time here naturally granted one the ability to read people. Glamorously dressed young second-generation rich kids who loved bringing women around usually liked to play big, unbothered even if they lost tens of millions in a night, as they were mainly there to find entertainment.
Another type, those covered in gold and silver, were in it for the raw thrill, mostly gambling addicts. Their chips were massive, and every win or loss meant a huge chunk of their net worth. Moving between heaven and hell in a single step, this kind of game stimulated their brains to release pleasure, comparable to methamphetamine.
However, someone like Shang Ying, stepping into the casino with a clear objective, decisive moves, landing a knockout blow in a single strike, and possessing courage and an aura completely out of tune with her surroundings, would usually be invited straight to the VIP rooms on the second floor.
Guangming consisted of two floors. The first-floor hall was for all players holding invitations. These were wealthy figures from various places who met the screening criteria to enter Guangming. Although they were prominent figures in their own circles, they could still only stay on the first floor.
The second floor was reserved for the true upper-crust elites of the circle to enjoy. The passersby there, if not among the top one hundred on the global billionaire list, were descendants of deeply rooted, powerful families. Naturally, the views and luxury on the second floor far surpassed the first, which was why true experts would also stay on the second floor.
Noticing the dealer lady studying her, Shang Ying smiled at her. Her eyes were her prettiest feature, the outer corners extending in a soft, lively, and charming line.
"Next game for you."
The dealer lady felt a bit shy under her gaze. The staff working at Guangming were all sharp individuals, provided with training in two to three foreign languages before taking the job. Because many foreign entrepreneurs visited the casino, their salaries were correspondingly very high.
Shang Ying's meaning was clear: the winnings from the next round would be her tip. Players usually only pulled out a chip or two from their stash as a tip for the dealer after winning a substantial payout.
For this young girl to say such a line meant she possessed complete confidence in winning the next round as well. The dealer couldn't help stealing a few more glances at Shang Ying, stunned by her confidence and composure.
The second round of the game began.
"Players may now place your bets."
The dealer lady's voice was sweet and delicate, sounding even more alluring amidst the haze of fine wine and cigar smoke. Under such a glamorous and thrilling scene, many people grew excited for entertainment, and even more placed their bets.
Having heard that someone had won a straight-up roulette bet nearby, people gathered around out of curiosity, stopping their own games to see what was happening. In an instant, Shang Ying was surrounded by a dense crowd, the air compressed into a mix of suffocating odors rushing straight into her nose.
She let out a breath, telling herself to endure it. After one more round, she would switch tables.
