Infinite Flow: Cannon Fodder’s Extreme Makeover into a Beautiful, Strong, and Tragic Character

Chapter 58: Opera House

The magical battle hadn't even begun, yet the source had already been eliminated.

Mingta suddenly jumped up, quickly pouncing forward to try and salvage the situation, but he could only dig out a bullet. The evil smirk on Boss Li's face hadn't yet faded, forever frozen on his face. The corpse decayed rapidly, soon looking like someone who had been dead for three days.

The sinister energy in the house vanished so quickly that even Zhang Ningde didn't have time to react. The bodyguards and family members outside ran in together. Upon seeing the corpse, they looked at each other in dismay, and with preconceived notions, asked some questions foolishly.

"Eh?! What's the situation?"

"Was this bitten by something?"

"Master, is this the backlash from some ghost or monster?"

"Can he still come back to life?"

"Master, what do we do now?"

What kind of ghost or monster backlash involves a bullet? How would he know what to do?

"This is a damn shooting! Hurry up and call the police!" Zhang Ningde said speechlessly.

He turned to look at Wei Yanchi, only to find that Wei Yanchi was long gone from his spot.

———

Retreat!

After the one-shot headshot, Xie De nimbly dismantled the firearm and packed it into his guitar case. He walked extremely fast from the rooftop into the interior of the shopping center, looking straight ahead, his limbs stiff as he pretended to be an artsy youth casually strolling around.

He specifically chose to walk in dark areas with few people and walked very fast. Everyone was busy with their own things, so they didn't really notice him. Even if they did, they wouldn't be able to see his face clearly.

After returning to the hotel, Xie De breathed a long sigh of relief. Placing the guitar case and his coat together.

"900 yards! Gibberish, 900 yards, a one-shot headshot. My marksmanship is getting better and better. I refuse to believe he's still alive after this." Xie De said somewhat excitedly.

Gibberish: "Just average. You haven't reached 1000 yards yet."

Xie De smiled.

"Don't force me to slap you when I'm this happy."

"Hey, I'm just joking." Gibberish made a face. "The mission was just completed, and 730 sent us a message. Take a look at your phone at the Home Screen interface. You can pick one item there."

That's great!

Xie De couldn't hide the excitement in his heart, his eyes practically glued to the phone screen. And facts proved he wasn't wrong to be excited.

The props 730 showed him were all things he liked.

Like car keys, real estate certificates, and cash…

Damn it, his indecisiveness was acting up.

Xie De's gaze simply couldn't move away from the real estate certificates. As if possessed, he clicked in to take a look.

Three bedrooms and two living rooms, downtown in a tier-one city, fully furnished. About 100 meters to the right is a hospital, about 200 meters in front is a subway station, and about 400 meters to the left is a school.

Thump, thump, thump.

His heart pounded, like a deer caught in the headlights. So this was what it felt like to have your heart flutter.

"Host, calm down. Do you think what we need right now is a house?"

Xie De snapped back to his senses, thought about it carefully, and then nodded heavily.

Gibberish, frustrated by his lack of ambition, controlled the phone screen to scroll up, stopping on a page full of firearms.

"Choose this package! This package not only has a Beretta pistol but also the classic Desert Eagle! There's also the super powerful M200 sniper rifle, with an effective range of up to 2000 meters and extremely high systemic precision! It even comes with 1000 rounds of compatible ammo! Pick this! Pick it!"

"Gibberish, you need to calm down. Do you think what we need right now is a gun?"

"(≥▽≤) Of course we need guns."

Gibberish didn't even think about it.

"What we need is a house, otherwise are we going to stay in hotels forever?"

"How much can staying in a hotel cost? Besides, Host, I think we will be going on missions frequently in the future. Won't the house you buy just be left vacant there? The guns are a better deal, and they can protect you."

"You don't know shit. Only with a house is there stability, a way out. Even if I don't use it, I can rent it out, which counts as a fixed monthly income."

"Your mindset is like a landlord from the last century, too conservative."

"Then does your mindset belong to Hitler?"

———

The person and the system engaged in a battle of words, neither able to convince the other. In the end, after arguing for a long time, they each took a step back.

The house chosen was a two-bedroom, one-living-room apartment, downtown in a tier-three city. It had a subway, but no hospital or school, though it was a river-view apartment.

He didn't choose the package. He chose an M200 sniper rifle, with no complimentary ammo and no pistols.

To be honest, Xie De really felt that arguing with Gibberish was more tiring than killing someone. Gibberish, on the other hand, was perfectly fine and happily trotted off to find the main scenario system again.

Xie De gnashed his teeth, silently cursing Gibberish to get the cold shoulder when looking for the scenario system. All the suffering that a simp has to endure, Gibberish must also endure.

Then, he glanced at the time. It was surprisingly already 1:00 PM.

Just now he heard the sound of police sirens. He had clearly killed the guy past 8:00 AM. Why did those people call the police so late?

By now, presumably, almost all traces had disappeared.

Xie De collapsed onto the bed in exhaustion. The little house centipede slowly crawled out from a corner of the room, holding a poster in its mouth. The poster was sparkly, and the little house centipede seemed to like it very much.

Xie De glanced at it, then suddenly sat up, pulling the poster over to look closely.

Eh?

Concert, violin solo.

Tonight, at the opera house in this city.

As mentioned before, Xie De loved music very much. A long time ago, he frantically taught himself the violin and considered himself a musician.

Now he looked at this poster in silence, then directly opened his phone to start booking a ticket. Since the mission was completed anyway, giving himself a little more entertainment wouldn't hurt.

———

Night fell quickly. The city's light pollution meant there were no stars in the sky. The night breeze blew gently, dispersing the gorgeous singing from the opera house.

Xie De had just taken his seat in the inner auditorium.

He sensed someone approaching him. Looking up, he fell into a pair of beautiful eyes full of laughter.

Wei Yanchi waved his hand.

"Hi, I booked a private box. How about coming with me? Just the two of us."

The private boxes in this opera house required a VIP membership, the service was definitely better.

Xie De sized him up warily.

"Why are you here?"

"Perhaps I should say coincidence?" Wei Yanchi shrugged, then burst out laughing. "Sorry, fine, I should say, this isn't a coincidence, it's my gamble."

He leaned in a bit closer, still as confident to the point of arrogance, and whispered in Xie De's ear.

"Boss Li was the main culprit of the factory instance. I was right next to him when he died. I guessed that you were the one who killed Boss Li, using a sniper rifle, and you made your move from the rooftop of the shopping center. Impressive marksmanship."

"I didn't know where you were, but Mr. 39 had mentioned the violin to me before. It just so happens there's a violin solo in this city, so, I bet that I would meet you here."

"Looking at it now, God still favors me."

Xie De couldn't suppress the astonishment in his heart. Suddenly realizing that the protagonist seemed to be too close to him, he abruptly pushed Wei Yanchi away and spoke coldly.

"What do you want with me?"

Like performing a magic trick, Wei Yanchi produced a bouquet of bright, beautiful red roses from somewhere. He held the roses out to Xie De, his face looking even more handsome. He could barely suppress the joy in his heart, his voice low and deep like a musical instrument.

"Perhaps I wanted to invite you to watch an opera together, or perhaps, I was possessed and felt the moon tonight is very beautiful."

There was no moon tonight.
