Chapter 54: Sending Away the Little Villain [2]
"I say, do you really not need to rest a bit more?"
Huang Zhuowang followed behind Xie De, his gaze occasionally sweeping over the blood-soaked clothes. Then, seeing him walk steadily without changing his expression, seemingly unaffected, he couldn't help but feel a phantom toothache.
"It's not that I'm complaining, but don't force yourself. If you really can't handle it, just rest a while. Why are you pushing yourself so hard? Don't go moving around and bust your wound open again. I even said I'd specially kill a chicken to nourish your body..."
"You talk too much nonsense."
Xie De interrupted him impatiently; this guy was really acting a bit too familiar.
"Hey! I care about you, and you say I talk too much nonsense?"
Huang Zhuowang was a little indignant, but Xie De ignored him. So, feeling quite defeated, Huang Zhuowang turned to harass Wei Yunmo instead.
"Hey! Experimental subject, look at his attitude!"
Wei Yunmo shot him a cold glance.
"There are pursuers behind us, and we are in great danger right now. It's you who is too frivolous. Are you really a member of the organization?"
"Absolutely genuine." Huang Zhuowang winked at him with a cheeky grin, then looked at Xie De.
"It's just that I'm the technical support; for combat power, of course, we have to rely on our Mr. 39. Alright, alright, whatever you say, it's my fault. I'll shut up."
"You should have shut up in the first place." Wei Yunmo muttered.
They arrived at the other end of the countryside, where an identical, completely intact off-road vehicle was parked.
While cleaning his wound, Xie De had notified the main scenario system to repair the car. The timing was just right.
Wei Yunmo didn't ask too many questions and quietly got into the car. He guessed that the organization must have hidden forces here to be able to find an identical vehicle in such a short time.
This time, Huang Zhuowang drove, and Xie De sat in the passenger seat. After all, he was injured, and since there was free labor, of course he had to use it. Besides, if he let Gibberish drive, not only would it waste power, but its driving skills were truly nothing to write home about.
"Cool, this is my first time driving such a high-end car." Sitting in the driver's seat, Huang Zhuowang was extremely excited. As he pulled his seatbelt, he said, "Bro, you buckle up too. Should I drive slower or faster?"
The next second.
"Ahhhhh. What the hell is this thing?!"
The little house centipede gave him a disdainful look, crawled all the way from the center console onto Xie De's shoulder, and rubbed against the hair near Xie De's cheek, actually looking somewhat docile.
Xie De was exhaustedly closing his eyes, his long eyelashes drooping as he leaned against the car window. The physical pain put him in a rather bad mood. He didn't explain anything but when he spoke, his voice was rather cold.
"Drive steadily."
Huang Zhuowang gulped. From behind came the experimental subject's childish voice, laced with a bit of disdain.
"Could you not yell and scream?"
Fine, fine, both of them are the bosses.
Huang Zhuowang resentfully stomped on the gas pedal. An AI voice came from the center console display, showing a map and leading them toward an even more remote location.
It was simply remote beyond belief.
Huang Zhuowang looked around. They seemed to have driven into a barren canyon now, with towering rocky peaks. There was also a cave on the cliff face, and strange winds howled through the canyon.
Theirs was the only car in sight, front and back, which was somewhat eerie. They were transporting an experimental subject. Could the depths of this canyon be the organization's laboratory?
Hidden so deep.
Finally, they stopped at the end of the road. In front of the car was a huge cave, completely pitch black inside. But when the car's headlights shone in, Huang Zhuowang saw it densely hung with bats. They opened their eyes one by one, a sea of glowing red.
"Holy crap."
Suddenly, the sound of a car door opening came. Xie De just got out like that, and the experimental subject followed. The two of them, one after the other, stepped into the cave. Thousands upon thousands of bats swarmed toward them with a screeching flutter, and their figures vanished into this wave of bats.
Huang Zhuowang opened his mouth wide and let out another sound, "That's kinda cool." But he still didn't dare to get out of the car.
It was quite cool, and also quite scary. If Xie De hadn't known that all this was just an illusion created by the main scenario system, he absolutely wouldn't have been willing to go down.
He also didn't have time to care about so much right now. After all, a person's energy is limited. When pain occupied most of his attention, he had no strength left to be timid. His mind was solely focused on quickly sending the little villain away.
When the wave of bats passed, they entered the subsidiary space of the main scenario system. The subsidiary space was massive, arranging different character storylines for different NPCs. And now, due to the little villain's characteristics, they arrived at a cold, icy laboratory.
Xie De went over and pressed his fingerprint, and the massive laboratory doors slowly opened. Quite advanced, actually.
A mechanical, icy aura wafted from inside. A scene straight out of a sci-fi movie opened up before them; there were even NPCs wearing white coats working.
Hmm, Xie De highly suspected whether this work was geared towards killing players more effectively.
Meanwhile, disappointment flashed in Wei Yunmo's eyes. As expected, Mr. 39 had still delivered him into the hands of the organization.
A blonde woman with an exceptionally bright smile came to welcome them. She was extremely enthusiastic, even calling out "darling" as she tried to hug and kiss Xie De, but Xie De, nursing a headache, dodged her.
Xie De had an intuition: this woman wasn't normal.
The woman didn't mind either. She crouched down to look Wei Yunmo in the eye, her tone warm and ambiguous, almost as if she knew him.
"Hello, my new colleague. His Excellency 39 is a bit cold, I hope you weren't terrified."
...Who is this woman?
Gibberish flipped through the data.
"Oh, it's Pearl. 730 said she is a natural actor, and she likes you very much."
So it's an old acquaintance.
Xie De recalled Pearl's madness inside the scenario, and felt his already painful shoulder hurt even more.
Anyway, since he had already delivered the person, Xie De turned around and started to leave.
"Wait!" It was Wei Yunmo, saying anxiously, "Will I be able to see you again?"
Xie De's footsteps halted for a moment. He turned slightly and gave him a glance, somewhat surprised, but his attitude didn't thaw in the slightest. His tone was a bit cold, as if answering casually.
"Depends on your performance, little friend."
Who knew if the next time they met, the little villain would have grown into a big villain?
Letting the scenario system raise a child. He couldn't imagine how much more skewed it would make the little villain's already skewed values. However, at least by keeping the little villain in the scenario, the scenario system wouldn't just let him murder people indiscriminately. That could be considered a form of restraint, right?
It was impossible for him to keep the little villain by his side. Firstly, because it was too dangerous. He wasn't that powerful; he couldn't completely shake off the laboratory's pursuit while dragging a child along, plus he was injured.
Secondly, because he didn't have a house anymore. He didn't have a house anymore!
This was truly a very sad story.
Wei Yunmo watched helplessly as Xie De left without looking back. His heart tightened with a cramping pain, his nose felt a bit sour, and he even wanted to chase after him.
The woman beside him tightly held his small hand. The icy aura radiating from her could practically freeze a person to death, yet her tone was extremely fervent.
"You poor little thing, do you want to cry?"
"What does it matter to you?"
"Because I want to cry too." Pearl made a face, pulling him into the laboratory. The massive doors behind them closed, completely cutting off the sunlight.
Those people in white coats cast bizarre glances his way one after another.
Wei Yunmo was very familiar with these glances. He had often felt them in his previous laboratory. The glances belonging to research maniacs.
These people wanted to research him.
They were no different from the people in his previous laboratory.
They were all a bunch of lunatics.
He remained silent, suddenly feeling a surge of anger. A thought bubbled up in his mind.
Mr. 39 abandoned him, he abandoned him!
Why throw him to these people?
Why not take him away?
Why…
Pearl, humming a song, suddenly bent down and wiped away his tears. "You poor little thing, oh dear, crying already? There are going to be many more uncomfortable things in the future.”
