Chapter 29: Home Turned Haunted House
Today it was cloudless, very good weather.
Returning from a bustling big city to a monotonous small county town, Xie De felt the heart he had been carrying in his throat could finally be set down. But when he returned home, he realized the heart he had been carrying could finally die.
His small two-bedroom apartment had been wrecked like a murder scene!
There was sticky blood everywhere, even human body parts on the floor. The sofa he usually sat on had been dismembered. Was this his home, or was this Syria?
Why are his eyes always filled with tears?
Because the small apartment he bought with a loan and only just paid off last year had become a haunted house.
"Gibberish, the villain is dead. I feel like I can go join him."
"Wait, the villain isn't dead. Hold off on your grief," Gibberish scanned the room, "I found him, he's in the kitchen. Not dead, very much alive. No severed hands or feet either. This blood belongs to someone else."
As they were talking, the little house centipede came crying and crawling down from the wall, looking as if it had suffered all sorts of grievances. It had been frightened badly by the villain, lying on Xie De's shoulder gesturing wildly.
Gibberish translated for a while.
"Oh, it says on the night we left, a thief broke the door and came in, then was counter-killed by the villain. The body was chopped into pieces by the villain and is now in the refrigerator."
My god.
Xie De felt his hair stand on end. Although he had also killed someone, it had been a clean and decisive kill. What on earth did putting the body in the refrigerator mean?
Now he really wanted to cry.
The kitchen door opened a crack. The villain peeked out from inside, then walked over obediently. His clothes were covered entirely in fresh blood. His whole person looked like he had been fished out of a pool of blood.
"I killed a thief. He wanted to steal your money."
"I know," Xie De's voice was very calm because Xie De was already broken.
Wei Yunmo rubbed his stomach, "I'm hungry."
He was also hungry. Xie De closed his eyes in despair.
"I remember there's food in the kitchen."
"I've already eaten it all." Wei Yunmo looked at him in embarrassment, "I did a lot of physical labor, so I got hungry relatively fast."
That was indeed a lot of physical labor.
Since things had already come to this, Xie De took out a cigarette and lit it for himself. His voice was almost devoid of any emotion.
"Are you hurt?"
No matter how psychopathic and badass the villain would become in the future, right now he was just a little kid who didn't even reach his shoulder. Counter-killing an adult man who had premeditated burglary, this must have been quite a strain on this little kid, right?
Wei Yunmo shook his head.
"No, that was a very weak person."
"Alright."
Xie De took a drag of his cigarette viciously, expressionless.
"Go take a shower, I'll take you out to eat."
"Okay!" Wei Yunmo smiled exceptionally happily.
Xie De felt extremely frustrated.
Why was his life so full of twists and turns?
First of all, since this kind of thing happened, he couldn't call the police. He was a murderer himself, so why call the police? Moreover, the kid grew up in the laboratory since childhood and killed a burglar who broke in just to protect himself. Although the action was somewhat extreme, it was really hard to judge.
Secondly, how to dispose of the body? How to answer when the police came knocking on the door to ask?
Lastly, how should he arrange things for the villain? He felt the villain had a bit of an anti-social personality. He couldn't just keep raising him in secret like this forever, right?
Also, his house had truly become a haunted house. Wouldn't it be haunted later on?
While Xie De was dealing with a mess of a situation.
Wei Yanchi had also flown back to the capital. He was pushing his suitcase with one hand and sending messages on his phone with the other, an unstoppable smile on his lips.
He first typed out a sentence.
"Mr. 39, good afternoon, have you eaten?"
Then he deleted this line of text, and drafted a new one.
It had been most of the day, yet not a single message had been sent.
The smile on his lips turned into a troubled frown, still pondering over what message to send. It wasn't until he had walked all the way to an antique coffin shop on a street of antiques that he finally sent one off.
"Mr. 39, are you interested in Daoist tools transactions?"
Xie De didn't reply.
The shop assistant, Xiao Jie, came over to help him take his luggage.
"Boss, who are you messaging? Was this trip smooth?"
"Very smooth," Wei Yanchi stretched lazily, "Did anything happen in these shops while I was away?"
"No, just that Miss Yue Xiamo came over and bought a silver urn.”
