Dormitory Survival: Joining A Bizarre Management Group At The Start

Chapter 39: The Innocent Rabbit

No matter who won or lost, Jiang Jinyue would profit.

After hearing her proposal, the small Long-Eared Rabbit anomaly quickly calculated the stakes.

Its eyes instantly lit up, greed filling its blood-red pupils.

Its three-lobed mouth soon stretched wide, revealing a greedy and supremely confident grin.

“Deal! You’re the one who said it! Don’t go back on your word later!”

It excitedly rubbed its paws together, then bounded proudly toward Dormitory 5555 with its chest puffed out.

“Come on! Your boss will show you what the most sensitive nose among all Long-Eared Rabbits is capable of! I’ll make sure you admit defeat wholeheartedly!”

Jiang Jinyue followed behind it, her gaze flickering as her rabbit paw tightened slightly around the broken carrot.

The show was about to begin.

It seemed this carrot would no longer be getting “returned.”

The small Long-Eared Rabbit anomaly was extremely fast, and the two rabbits soon arrived outside Dormitory 5555.

Jiang Jinyue stood before the door, but her gaze unconsciously shifted toward the muscular man’s Dormitory 5554 next door.

Don’t be impatient.

Your turn is coming soon.

The small Long-Eared Rabbit anomaly had clearly been blinded by greed.

Standing before Dormitory 5555, it raised its intact carrot with great confidence and smashed it down against the Reinforced Iron Door.

“BANG!”

Almost at the exact moment the impact rang out, a sudden change occurred.

Inside the room, the six 【Broom Turrets】 that had long been waiting in the corners rotated their bases simultaneously like a disturbed swarm of hornets.

The broom heads mounted atop them shot outward with rapid whooshes, instantly forming a dense storm of flying brooms.

At the same time, the 【Slowing Refrigerator】 in the corner quietly lit up.

An invisible field of freezing energy spread outward, causing the small Long-Eared Rabbit anomaly’s movements to slow at a visibly perceptible rate.

“Thud-thud-thud-thud!”

–6! –5! –7! –8! …

A continuous stream of damage numbers frantically appeared above the small rabbit’s head.

Caught completely unprepared by the fierce barrage, it staggered. One of its long ears was struck crooked, and its HP bar instantly dropped by a clearly visible amount.

“Aow! That hurts! It hurts!”

The small Long-Eared Rabbit anomaly was both shocked and furious.

It clumsily swung its carrot to block the attacks while continuing to smash uselessly at the door. At the same time, it angrily shouted at Jiang Jinyue, who was “standing there in a daze.”

“Unlucky idiot! What kind of ridiculous door did you choose? Why are there so many annoying things inside, and why do their attacks hurt so much?!”

It had clearly never expected an “empty can” to contain such ferocious firepower.

Once an anomaly began attacking a dormitory, it could not stop midway unless its HP fell below one-third and triggered the forced-retreat mechanism, or it successfully broke down the door.

That was a rule.

A rigid rule no anomaly could resist.

Jiang Jinyue also pretended to be frightened.

She immediately lowered the carrot she had started to raise, then shamelessly shrank behind the small Long-Eared Rabbit anomaly and said weakly,

“Keep going, Boss! I didn’t expect the firepower here to be so fierce.

“I’d better stop attacking for now. You’re so powerful that I’m sure you can handle it alone!”

The small rabbit did not feel comforted in the slightest.

Instead, its last hope that another rabbit might help share the damage was crushed.

It squealed wildly as the barrage struck it, its HP dropping rapidly and its mood becoming increasingly terrible.

Jiang Jinyue remained hidden behind it, secretly blocking off its retreat while offering effortless encouragement from a safe position.

“Keep it up, Boss! The door is almost broken! Look, its HP is dropping quickly!

“Once it opens, there’ll definitely be a feast inside! I’ll give you my entire share!”

The small Long-Eared Rabbit anomaly saw that the iron door’s HP was indeed steadily declining.

Tempted by the promise of a “feast,” it endured the pain and humiliation and began smashing even harder.

It thought that once the door broke, it would charge inside first, destroy every last one of those damned launchers, and then beat the cowardly idiot rabbit behind it senseless.

Unfortunately, dreams were beautiful, but reality was cruel.

The sustained firepower from the six Broom Turrets was simply too fierce, especially with the Slowing Refrigerator suppressing its movements.

By the time the dormitory door’s HP dropped to 65, the small Long-Eared Rabbit anomaly’s HP had already fallen precariously to 35.

Now it was genuinely afraid.

“No! I can’t take this anymore! This stupid door is too hard, and the firepower inside is too strong! I have to retreat!”

The small rabbit began thinking about escaping.

Its attack rhythm slowed, and its body tried to shrink backward, ready to flee at any moment.

But how could Jiang Jinyue allow prey already inside her mouth to escape?

She immediately shifted her body.

Seemingly flustered, yet with perfect precision, she blocked the easiest path of retreat while shouting even more loudly,

“Boss, there’s only a little left! Look, they’re almost finished! Hold on!

“Victory is right in front of you! I don’t want any of tonight’s rewards—they’ll all belong to you!

“I believe you’re the strongest!”

The word “strongest” seemed to strike the last fragment of pride remaining in the small Long-Eared Rabbit anomaly.

Its movements paused.

But the next instant, an even denser barrage of broom heads struck it, and its HP plummeted below 30.

The overwhelming sense of danger completely sobered it.

Food and pride were nothing compared with preserving its qualification to hunt tonight.

If it was “killed” now, who knew how long it would have to wait before receiving another opportunity to come out and eat?

“Get out of the way! Let me leave! I’m done attacking!”

The small Long-Eared Rabbit anomaly completely lost its temper.

Its blood-red eyes glared at Jiang Jinyue as it tried to ram her aside with brute force.

This was precisely the moment Jiang Jinyue had been waiting for—the instant its mentality completely collapsed.

Pretending to be frightened by its roar, Jiang Jinyue hurriedly tried to move aside.

However, she “clumsily” tripped over her own feet and fell directly toward the small rabbit.

“Ouch!”

“Guh! What are you doing?!”

Jiang Jinyue landed heavily on top of the small Long-Eared Rabbit anomaly, dispersing the little strength it had just gathered.

The two rabbits instantly tumbled into a tangled heap.

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry, Boss! I didn’t mean to! I’ll get up right now!”

Jiang Jinyue frantically tried to push herself upright.

But as though she had been “too frightened,” her arms suddenly gave way, and she “accidentally” collapsed heavily onto it again.

Her knee also just happened to pin down the leg the small rabbit was trying to use for leverage.

Because Jiang Jinyue had never attacked the dormitory door, the Broom Turrets inside continued focusing all their firepower on the small Long-Eared Rabbit anomaly without pause.

“Screeech! Squeak this, squeak that, squeak-squeak-squeak!”

The small rabbit released a piercing shriek of agony.

It cursed frantically in rage and panic, nearly driven insane.

Those few seconds of entanglement and delay were enough to prove fatal before nine Broom Turrets.

The final broom heads screamed through the air and struck the unlucky small Long-Eared Rabbit anomaly with perfect accuracy.

The next instant, its HP bar was completely emptied.

All its anger, unwillingness, and terror froze upon its furry rabbit face.

Its body rapidly shriveled and faded like a punctured balloon before finally dissolving into a drifting cloud of white mist.

The mist condensed upon the floor outside Dormitory 5555, leaving behind an exquisite treasure chest glowing with soft white light.

“Done.”
