Chapter 27: Yaksha Anomaly
Jiang Jinyue looked at the messages and lowered her eyes slightly.
It seemed she would have to be careful tonight.
Even though her iron door had already been upgraded to Level 2, the Yaksha carried weapons. She still could not afford to let her guard down.
After exiting the management group, she decided to use the bathroom before the anomalies descended.
It was 6:40 p.m. now. There should not be any players lingering in the corridor anymore.
When she reached the door, Jiang Jinyue first used her pocket mirror to confirm that there was no one outside. Only then did she gently open the door and slip out.
She held the iron shovel in her left hand, ready to attack at any moment. Her footsteps did not slow either, and she quickly reached the public bathroom at the end of the corridor.
Jiang Jinyue stood in front of the bathroom door. She did not go in immediately. Instead, she quickly checked inside first. Only after confirming there was no one in there did she relax slightly.
Two minutes later, she came out of the bathroom and returned along the same route.
When she passed the neighboring Dormitory 5554, her eyes narrowed slightly, and the corner of her mouth curled into a sly, malicious smile.
Jiang Jinyue first opened the door to her own dormitory. Then, after waiting a few minutes, she mercilessly lifted her foot and kicked the neighboring door in a wild barrage.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
Kick the door, enter her room, close the door.
The whole sequence flowed as smoothly as running water, without the slightest hesitation.
At 6:59 p.m., after safely returning to her dormitory, Jiang Jinyue leaned against the door and panted lightly. Her eyes were bright, carrying a bit of smug satisfaction after a successful prank.
Sure enough, in the very next second, the furious curses of the muscle man next door rang out.
Jiang Jinyue pressed her head close to the pocket mirror, held her breath, and stared expectantly at the door of the neighboring dormitory.
Unfortunately, no matter how angry the muscle man was, he did not open his door at this hour.
Jiang Jinyue shook her head regretfully. Only then did she turn her attention to the anomalies’ entrance.
The moment it hit 7:00 p.m., the originally dry and empty corridor floor began seeping out puddles of thick, dark green liquid without warning.
The liquid carried a strong fishy stench and the smell of rot, seeping through the heavy iron door and into the dormitory.
Jiang Jinyue smelled the foul odor at the tip of her nose and could not help frowning slightly, but her gaze did not shift at all.
She saw those disgusting dark green liquids begin rapidly gathering and transforming bit by bit, as though they were alive.
In the next moment, the twisted slime gradually outlined a humanoid shape, but its head was that of a hideous fish.
“Gurgle… gurgle…”
The slime finally solidified completely. Four fish-headed, human-bodied monsters, each over two meters tall, appeared in the middle of the corridor.
Their eyes were a murky dark yellow, their mouths packed densely with sharp teeth. In each of their hands was a three-pronged iron fork with a cold gleam flashing from its tips.
Although their bodies were shaped like humans, some places were covered in a layer of green scales. Where there were no scales, there were nauseating lumps of flesh.
They stood excitedly in the corridor, their fish eyes greedily sweeping over the tightly shut dormitory doors on both sides. Their throats let out hoarse, panting “heh, heh” sounds.
Jiang Jinyue held her breath slightly and nervously watched the Yaksha less than three meters away from her door.
However, the clearly reinforced iron door in front of it seemed to make it hesitate for a moment. It did not immediately launch an attack. Instead, after pacing a few steps, it left her door.
Jiang Jinyue’s gaze followed this Yaksha closely. She discovered that it had begun attacking an unupgraded Level 1 rusty iron door not far away.
The other Yaksha were the same. They all headed toward the Level 1 rusty iron doors.
Very soon, miserable screams once again rang out in the quiet corridor.
Watching the Yaksha take 5 HP off an iron door with a single stab of its fork, Jiang Jinyue suddenly felt that she still did not have much sense of security.
She left the door and quickly walked to the workbench.
Fortunately, she had not wasted the entire afternoon. She had put almost all of her materials into making Broom Turrets.
Originally, she had planned to use the finished Broom Turrets to trade for gold coins tonight. Now, it seemed she could only use them for defense first.
The three turrets she had made that afternoon, plus the one she had opened from a treasure chest and the original one she already had, meant that this tiny dormitory now had a full five Broom Turrets installed.
Only then did Jiang Jinyue let out a breath of relief.
However, thinking of the terrifying attack power of the Yaksha anomalies, her eyes flickered. She felt that the turret business could still continue.
After all, most players probably only had one turret in hand right now.
As for players with Level 1 rusty iron doors, if they wanted to drive away the anomaly before their doors broke, they would need at least two turrets.
Thinking of this, she opened the chat lobby and found that it had already turned into a complete mess. The panic practically seeped through the screen.
Cries for help, wails, and sounds of suffering filled the screen.
Just then, a message with a clear intent to trade popped up, instantly grabbing everyone’s attention like a drowning person clutching at a straw.
【A Loving Family】:
“Broom Turret processing service. Only requires ordinary iron ore ×4, wood ×4, and gold coins ×10. Limited slots. Interested parties, add me quickly. If you lack materials, other items of equivalent value may be used as substitutes.”
The moment this message appeared, the chat lobby first went silent.
Then came an even more explosive wave of discussion.
【Life Is So Hard】:
“Help! What the hell is that thing outside? The sound of it smashing the door is way too scary! And my iron door’s HP is dropping so fast. The Broom Turret can’t even hurt it!”
【Dragonfly Touches Sleep】:
“It’s over. The Broom Turret does 3 damage to it at most, but one hit from it takes at least 5 HP off my door. My life ends here!”
【Poop Boy】:
“Hahahaha… Thanks to the dearly departed ‘I Love Pooping.’ My Little Bi’s barking can scare them away! The moment the door-smashing started, my Little Bi went ‘wer! wer!’ twice, and it left!”
【Aggressively Kissing the Cripple’s Good Leg】:
“You really deserve to die! My door is Level 2, and the anomaly only takes 3 HP off at most per attack, but that’s about the same as the Broom Turret’s attack power. I don’t feel safe at all!”
【I Want to Go Home】:
“Wuwuwu… I’m only 14. I don’t want to die. I don’t even have a Broom Turret. Can anyone help me? I’m willing to trade everything I have.”
【Thief King】:
“Boss lady, save me! I have the materials. I added you. Accept me first!”
【.】:
“I only have three iron ores, and I don’t have enough gold coins either, but I have an extra support-type item. Is that okay? Please, boss lady!”
【Moral Model】:
“@A Loving Family, you’re taking advantage of people in crisis! This is a complete betrayal of humanity. This is human treason! Everyone, don’t go to her for processing. Let’s boycott her together and force the price down!”
【Deep Shit-Stirrer】:
“God-tier weirdo.”
